Launching Spond: A New Home for Our Club Community

Gosforth Harriers has always been built on people — coaches, run leaders, volunteers, parents, juniors, seniors, and everyone who turns up on a cold Monday night ready to run. As the club continues to grow, we want to make sure our communication, organisation, and member experience grow with it. That’s why we’re excited to introduce Spond as our new club platform.
Spond will become the central place for training sessions, announcements, groups, volunteering, and everything that keeps the club running smoothly. It’s simple, secure, and designed for busy people who want information quickly and clearly.
Why we’re moving to Spond
The club has reached a size where WhatsApp threads, emails and multiple spreadsheets make things harder than they need to be. Spond gives us one shared space where:
- Training sessions and events are easy to find and sign up for
- Coaches and run leaders can manage groups without admin overload
- Parents can keep track of junior sessions and events
- Committee and volunteers can coordinate behind the scenes
- Everyone receives the right information at the right time
It’s a tool that supports the way we already work – just with less friction.
What members can expect
Once you join the Gosforth Harriers Spond Club, you’ll see:
- Your training and event groups (seniors, juniors, XC, relays etc.)
- Upcoming sessions with clear times, locations and coaches
- Easy RSVP buttons so leaders know who’s attending
- Event details for races, social and club nights
- Direct communication from the club without message overload
You’ll only receive notifications relevant to your groups, keeping things tidy and manageable.
What this means for coaches, run leaders and volunteers
Spond gives our volunteer team the tools they need to run sessions safely and confidently:
- Quick access to attendance lists
- Emergency contact details at a glance
- Ability to message groups or individuals
- Simply ways to organise events, teams and helpers
It reduces admin so our leaders can focus on what they do best: supporting runners!
I’m a member, how do I access Spond?
On Sunday 1st March 2026, we’ll add all current members to Spond. You will receive an email from Spond inviting you to join a group. By clicking the button in the email, you’ll be taken to a short registration page where you confirm your name and information sharing options. Click Join and you’re in the group.


Logging in to Spond
Once you’ve accepted your invite all you need to do is log in to Spond via the app. If you haven’t downloaded the app yet you can use the buttons below to access the relevant app stores for your mobile device.
When you open Spond click on Get Started. And follow the workflow to sign up if you’ve never used Spond before, or sign in, if you already have an account.




Once logged in to Spond you will be able to see the groups which you’ve been added to.
A Stronger, More Connected Club
Spond isn’t just a new app — it’s a step towards a more organised, more inclusive, and more connected Gosforth Harriers. It helps us support our volunteers, communicate clearly, and give every member the best possible club experience.

Alternatively, Spond have an excellent support section of their website which should answer most questions. We’ll also be adding user guides to this site so that you really can get the most from the app.
We’re excited to make this move together and continue building a club that reflects the energy, pride, and community spirit of Gosforth.
