Summer racing just got a whole lot more exciting—the Gosforth Summer Relays are officially back for 2026! Hosted by Gosforth Harriers, this prestigious event is set to take place at Great Park, Newcastle upon Tyne, offering runners a thrilling competition on a fresh, brand-new route.

Runners will enjoy a short walk from the community centre to the start/finish line before tackling an exciting new course designed to challenge and excite competitors of all levels. Whether you’re racing for glory or just soaking up the atmosphere, the relays promise to be a must-attend event for runners across the region.

We are excited to be returning to the Great Park, Newcastle upon Tyne to host our Summer Relays event in 2026. It not only offers us the opportunity to give you an amazing route for the races, but provides fantastic amenities and support from local residents.

Registration

Our bespoke Team Manager allows you to manage your teams in advance, removing the stress of race day registration.

Once you have purchased your event tickets, one of our admins will be in touch with further details on how to complete advance registration. Utilising our Team Manager, you will be able to update your racers’ details online, right up until you collect your numbers on race day.

Our registration team will be available at Race HQ from 8:30am on Sunday 2nd August to hand out your numbers and answer any last minute queries.

As a bit of fun, we encourage clubs to come up with quirky names for their teams. These will be included in the results pages.

Route

For the Gosforth Summer Relays 2026 we are excited to have you compete on our moderately hilly circular route. At 2.4 miles long, it is predominantly off-road on tarmac paths, featuring a nice little cut through the trees and a tight dog leg around mile 2, before a sprint to the finish.

Whether you’re racing, cheering, or just soaking up the Summer Relays spirit, our cake stall has you covered with a spread that’s as sweet as the day itself!

Cakes and bakes will be on sale from just £2, with treats to tempt every taste bud — including vegan tray bake and tiffin, rich brownies, millionaire’s shortbread, and chocolate flapjack, plus plenty of other delicious surprises.

We’re also serving up savory snacks and a refreshing selection of drinks, perfect for a post-run refuel or a mid-spectator pick-me-up.

Proceeds support Gosforth Harriers and our community events, so every bite does good. Come hungry — leave happy!
