Gosforth Harriers Summer Relays 2025 — A Day to Remember!

On Sunday 3rd August 2025, the sun shone brightly over the Great Park as we welcomed clubs from across the region for our much-anticipated Summer Relays. It was a day filled with energy, camaraderie, and unforgettable performances — a true celebration of community sport.
From the moment the first runners set off to the final strides across the finish line, the atmosphere was electric. Runners of all ages and abilities came together to represent their clubs, cheer on teammates, and soak up the summer vibes. Whether powering through the final leg or supporting from the sidelines, every participant played a part in making the day special.

We were thrilled to see so many clubs from across the North East turn out in force. Their support, enthusiasm, and sportsmanship brought the event to life. The relays weren’t just about speed — they were about connection, teamwork, and celebrating the joy of running together.

A huge thank you goes to the Great Park Community Centre, whose facilities and hospitality provided the perfect backdrop for the day. From registration to refreshments, everything ran smoothly thanks to their support — and we’re so grateful to have them as part of our extended Harriers family.

No event of this scale happens without a dedicated team behind the scenes. We want to extend a massive thank you to every single volunteer who gave their time, energy, and expertise to make the Summer Relays possible. From course marshals and timekeepers to registration helpers and cake station heroes — you were the heartbeat of the day.
A special shoutout to our last-minute lead bike volunteer, who stepped up when we needed them most and guided runners safely around the course with confidence and calm. Your quick thinking and commitment didn’t go unnoticed!

And of course, we must give a huge round of applause to Steve, our Race Director, whose meticulous planning and steady leadership ensured the event went off without a hitch. From course logistics to team coordination, Steve’s efforts were the glue that held everything together — and we couldn’t have done it without him.
