Quayside 5K & Junior 3K — Race Night on the Tyne

Wednesday 22nd April brought runners of all ages to the Newcastle Quayside for a brilliant evening of racing, proudly delivered in partnership with Wallsend Harriers & AC. The event featured two standout races — the ever‑popular Quayside 5K and the Junior Quayside 3K — creating a buzzing riverside atmosphere from start to finish.
Both races took place on a flat, World Athletics measured course, making it ideal for personal bests, confident racing, or even a first attempt at the distance. The route showcased some of the most recognisable sights on Tyneside, giving runners a tour of the river’s industrial heritage and modern skyline.
Participants followed the Quayside path with sweeping views of the Tyne, passing the Swing Bridge before running beneath a series of iconic structures — the High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge, and Redheugh Bridge. The final stretch took runners across the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, leading to a memorable finish in Baltic Square, framed by the city skyline.
Gosforth Harriers on the Quayside
We were proud to see three Gosforth Harriers take to the start line and represent the club:
- Chris Williams — Club Captain, running brilliantly to finish the 5K in 00:18:45
- Lewis Proud — delivering an awesome 5K performance in 00:17:49
- Chloe Das — competing in the Junior 3K
A special mention goes to Chloe Das, who delivered a standout performance to finish as first female in the Junior 3K with an outstanding time of 11:20. A superb achievement and a brilliant moment for both Chloe and the club.
